Our Strategic Objectives and Influences are:
The mission of the National Botanic Garden of Wales was established at the inception of the project as:
To develop a viable world-class national botanic garden dedicated to the research and conservation of biodiversity and its sustainable utilisation, to lifelong learning and to the enjoyment of the visitor.
Underneath it remains an embedded desire to communicate the message of the relationship between plants and people. Over-layered upon this belief is the recognition that the Gardens role, although remaining multi-faceted, is to deliver key messages to and for all the people of Wales, the UK and beyond. The Garden does not exist solely for the benefit of itself or for the benefit of the few who are passionate about what it stands for.
The vision can therefore be succinctly described as follows.
To create a modern botanic garden for all the people of Wales, the UK and the World and in so doing create an institution that is relevant to the lives of all citizens. In order to achieve this we aim to build upon four pillars of excellence; as a visitor attraction, in public engagement, in science, and in education. The foundations upon which these pillars are built must be made from a solid base of sustainable finance, effective governance and active partnerships.
