The Furniture Station is a registered charity which aims to help disadvantaged people in Stockport by providing them with good quality recycled furniture and white goods. Many people going into accommodation cannot afford to buy the items they need to make a house into a home, like the young mother who had nothing and received furniture, a cooker and a cot for her new baby. All our clients are referred to us to ensure we only help those in greatest need. The project also ensures many items, which would otherwise end up in landfill, continue to have a useful life and provides work placements for those needing support to enter the labour market. The Furniture Station has been chosen by The Mayor of Stockport as her Charity of the year for 2008/09.
