Safe & Sound Derby has been working for over nine years in the city supporting vulnerable children and young people who are victims of sexual exploitation and abuse.
Our role in supporting young people, and helping to highlight the issue of child sexual exploitation in Derby has been recognised as being pivotal in securing a range of convictions against the criminals who were sentenced in 2010 and 2011 for a number of sexual and other offences involving children.
Currently, Safe & Sound Derby is working directly with over 70 children and young people and is involved in running awareness raising workshops in local schools, youth clubs, community venues etc.
Our work in Derby is helping to highlight child sexual exploitation nationally, and we will continue to work to raise awareness of the issue at local and national levels.
As a charity we are dependant on public support and donations to make sure we can continue to work with some of the city's most vulnerable and at risk children and young people.
On 15 February 2011, we launched our fundraising appeal, Keeping Derby Safe and Sound, and over the next two years we are hoping to raise £500,000. All funds raised will help secure our future for the next few years and beyond.
