Last year our team of 7 runners raised over £12,000 for RedR in sponsorship money. We're hoping to break this total in the 2010 London Marathon and are looking for keen runners and fundraisers to join our team.
260 aid workers were killed, kidnapped or injured in 2008 while providing life saving relief to people affected by disasters. RedR needs your help to help protect and prepare humanitarian relief workers by providing essential safety training.
Join our running team now for the Virgin London Marathon and help us continue delivering our training courses that enable aid workers to effectively deliver aid to those who need it most.

Perhaps not surprisingly, many of our teams chose RedR as their charity because of their links to the engineering community. The two teams who participated in June’s Bristol Rat Race, for example, included MWH engineers Rob Palmer, David Ripley and Paul Black, and civil engineer Peter Mueller, and his team-mates Philippa Norman and Louise Watts.
While Peter heard about RedR’s involvement with the Rat Race through the charity’s newly refurbished Facebook Page, Rob’s team signed up after hearing about the event through Engineers Without Borders (EWB). As engineers, the team believed that RedR is the perfect charity to support.
“RedR has always been one of the organisations that personally caught my eye, through the work they do in emergency situations, right from when I first thought about starting Civil Engineering. To be able to raise money to help in this cause has been incredibly satisfying!” said Paul. Their team finished a commendable 17th out of 124 teams.
At the beginning of August, two teams from Atkins Bennett successfully completed the Sheffield Rat Race and have between them raised over £1800 so far. The teams finished an impressive 3rd and 4th place in their category and consisted of six participants; Corin Brotherhood, Peter Elliott, Richard Lowery, Ian Hylands, Yuhou Cheung and Piers Turnbull.
