| Ruth Lorenzo to Sing for Children 05-12-2008 RUTH LORENZO, everybody’s darling from the X-FACTOR, announced today that she is to sing for the children of Darfur in London on Wednesday, 10th December at the KIDS FOR KIDS Candlelit Christmas Concert. “Before the X-Factor took me by storm I promised I would help the forgotten children of Darfur. I live in a hot country too, and I know how cold it can be at night. There are children living in huts in small villages who have nothing to sleep under, no beds, nothing. They need blankets, and I am asking people to help me provide some for them this Christmas.” ![]() This will be the first chance people have of seeing the singing sensation from Spain sing live. “I am lost for words” said Patricia Parker, Founder of KIDS FOR KIDS. “Ruth is such a warm loving person. When two little boys told her what was going on in Darfur and that nobody seemed to care, she said she would see if she could help. But to sing at our concert…. that is just so special. We are keeping it a surprise as to what she will be singing – but Simon might be pleased!” It should not be a surprise to anyone that Ruth wants to help children. It was a little 9 year old - her best friend - who got her to audition for the X-Factor, and it was the lonely walk of a 9 year old across the deserts of Darfur for water, who was the inspiration behind KIDS FOR KIDS.
