WHY DO I SUPPORT THE WILDLIFE TRUST IN DEVON?
The Wildlife Trust is my most deserving charity, especially at this time when global warming is such a big debate. I am very concerned that the importance of wildlife is not properly recognised for the well being of our planet. Not only do most of us appreciate the wild places to see and visit, wildlife that is thriving is essential for the very wellbeing of our planet as part of our food chain. I have seen Devon Wildlife Trust's work and they do a fantastic job with their management and skill caring for wildlife whether in woodlands, ancient grasslands, rivers and the sea. The Wildlife Trust is the largest charitable organisation caring for wildlife so supporting Devon is part of a national policy.
Lots of training is needed for my challenge so that I am fully fit. I have now worked out the journey and set the start date. I have a website to follow the journey (now open) and this is www.cycle770.blogspot.com.
MY ROUTE IS IN THE GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS
My route was added to the Guinness Book of Records in 2003 as the longest cycle route in the World. So far, only 55 people are recorded as having done it. I will be circumnavigating the North Sea coastline. In this country, I will follow National Cycle Network Route 1 from Harwich to the Shetlands Isles. The five countries of Europe all have cycle friendly routes starting in Bergen. My route takes me through Stavanger, Goteberg, Esbjerb, Hamburg to Hook of Holland where I return to Harwich.
PLEASE CHECK MY BLOGS and TWITTER.
I will be updating these regularly from now on.
