Ugab River after the rains.
Along the border of the Namib Desert rains are unpredictable and the average annual rainfall amounts to about 30mm, with most of the rain falling in the months December to March and next to no rain falling in the months June to August. Consequently water has to be pumped into boreholes for the community to be able to water their livestock and to be able to survive.
