CWCF was formed in July 1998 and is made up of a small voluntary group of family and friends with the main thought being to enable the children, and families of the children with cancer, to have a quality of life that we would hope to have ourselves. Most of the time it means giving them treats or buying them something they have missed out on, normally due to the fact that their money has been spent fighting the illness or burning up petrol going to and fro to the hospital for treatment.
Wishes
Most of the time, the community nurses who are treating the children nominate the families to us and we then talk to the families about their wishes. We have gone from strength to strength granting wishes such as bikes, computers, show tickets, garden toys, a wheelchair, a car and we now have two 10 berth caravans to which we send families on holiday.
This year is our 13th anniversary and when we look back over the 100’s of wishes we have granted we still know that every wish is different and so are the families.
The only reason we have been able to do this is because you the local people have supported us so well. We get the best bit, (and the bit that we say no money can buy) that is the ‘wish granting’. Simple things like an England football kit the other day lit up the eyes of a child and a million £ could not buy that. We could not do it without you, so to all who read this THANK YOU from CWCF and all the families we help.
