| Charity Description | Many people who visit the poorer nations are at first shocked at the poverty and are touched with a desire to help in some way. That’s how it all began at MSM. Seeing dirty, lice ridden children dressed in rags, foraging for food during the day and sleeping under a plastic sheet at night they knew they had to do more. Mustard Seed Ministries is a charity whose inspiration and values derive from a faith in God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the truths contained in Scripture. Committed to working in partnership with the broader church worldwide to bring change to the lives of individuals and communities through prayer and mission rooted in practical love. What MSM do: MSM are commited to supporting projects in: India Philippines Bangladesh Brazil Haiti Being on the ground MSM are very aware of the needs of a broader range of children. Children living and begging on the streets potential targets for organized crime and sexual abuse; orphaned children and many children living with some family but in abject poverty or abusive situations. All denied access to education and the level of care and security children need. How could we do more? We believe the best way to help is by supporting local people and organizations on the ground, who understand the problems and have a heart to make a difference to the physical and spiritual lives of these children and families. Our aim is not to own or badge these projects but to enable them to become self-sustaining through self-financing initiatives and/or by developing local support. Working in close relationship MSM is now helping to support a number of orphanages, Trusts and Churches in India Bangladesh Brazil Haiti and the Philippines that are bringing a change to the lives of needy children, elderly and adults. MSM helps by providing: Financial support on a regular basis and one off donations as required Resources e,g. clothes, medical supplies, books, pens, toys etc. Practical, emotional and spiritual support to those working on the front line Advice, guidance and new perspectives on the development of projects Development of networks and relationships between projects for mutual support, encouragement and sharing of resources Visits from pastors, preachers, individual and teams of volunteers to support and encourage projects and ministries There is much to acompish and each day brings a positive move towards elieviating the poverty of the poorer nations. www.msm.org.uk |
