Charity Description

Tamwed's founders were keen to establish long term and sustainable health, education, agriculture and other projects rather than provide immediate relief aid. We have two well-established partner NGOs and a project manager in India who work with marginalised and poor communities in the coastal area of Tamil Nadu where they have set up Women's Self Help Groups. After an extensive needs assessment exercise last year we have prioritised health and sanitation as key issues to work on. Currently, we are training health workers and providing toilets. We have trained women to produce craft items using 'kalmakari' designs which we sell in the UK to raise funds for projects.
