Hi Thanks for popping in... together with 18 others i'll be attempting to scale Mont Blanc and will be raising money for Sense International. It's certainly not a walk in the park and will involve some heavy lifting and ice climbing, here's a clip on youtube i found that should give you some idea of what i'll be up to towards the top (it's 4800m btw) Don't tell Mum!!

Sense International is unique. It is the only UK charity wholly and exclusively focused on helping children living in some of the poorest countries in the world, and who are both deaf and blind, learn to communicate.
We cannot imagine what it is like to be both deaf and blind – how would we communicate? How would we understand what is going on around us?
There are many causes of deafblindness (rubella, premature birth and a host of genetic defects) – and there are an estimated 2.5million people globally who are affected. In poorer countries there is no welfare state to help them, so Sense International is trying to improve government awareness/funding and start to build infrastructure: community/parent groups; rehabilitation programmes/centres; training the teachers; early identification centres.
In the third world, money donated goes a long way: for instance £100 keeps a child in one of the schools we assist in India for a year. If you donate £100, after gift aid we get £128, while through your tax return you get £12 back – so £128 to us costs you only £88.
Sense International is a young charity, nearly 10 years old….. but as it is starting to address an issue in countries where there is absolutely nothing at present, Sense International can make a huge difference and we have many case studies to this effect.
There are many brilliant, competing causes for charitable donations, but Sense International has no competitors in its field – there is no wasted duplication of administrative effort. Sense International is not trying to resolve global poverty – it is helping the most marginalised people in the world live a more fulfilled life
