Please let me introduce myself, my name is Andrew Cackett and I am part of a team of four from Basingstoke Bluefins Swimming club, we are working tirelessly to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (CF Trust) and the Basingstoke Bluefins Club by hosting a charity bike ride and climb to conquer the 4 highest peaks in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.<br /><br />
<br /><br />
We will begin this amazing challenge on the 3rd August 2010 from the home of the Bluefins Club, Basingstoke Aquadrome & aim to be completed between 10-14 days. By doing this event we hope to raise in the excess of £5,000 and the proceeds will be split between the Cystic Fibrosis Trust (70%) and Bluefins Club (30%)<br /><br />
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only national charity working entirely to help those with Cystic Fibrosis. The C.F. Trust funds research into better treatments helps individuals with practical, emotional and financial support and also raises awareness about this debilitating condition. Cystic Fibrosis is the UK’s most common Life limiting inherited disease and affects 8,500 people in the UK today. Life expectancy is just 35,although a baby born today is expected to live longer. 1 in 25 of the population carries the faulty gene so somebody in your organisation will have been affected or know somebody with C.F. C.F.causes the lungs to become clogged causing infections, digestive problems and can lead to malnutrition, diabetes and osteoporosis.<br /><br /><br /><br />
Basingstoke Bluefins Swimming & Polo Club is Hampshire’s only self funded non profit swimming club and offers swimming for disabled swimmers up to national swimmers, Bluefins continues to grow stronger every year with a large coaching team with years of experience and would like to continue and bettering their equipment and pool hire time.
